Bomb Bomb Restaurant is a unique combination of authentic Italian specialties, seafood, and slow cooked Southern barbeque. Our Baby Back Ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, smothered in our bacon and bourbon barbeque sauce.
Frank Barbato Sr., who started Bomb Bomb Tavern in 1951, was known for his famous mussel sauce, clams and linguini, roast pork, roast beef, and pizza.
In 1991, Frank Jr. and Deb, renovated and opened Bomb Bomb Bar-Be-Que Grill and Italian Restaurant. South Philadelphia had a lot of great, Italian restaurants, so we decided to be a little different and couple Italian cuisine and Southern Barbeque.
In 1993, Steve Levy, from Channel 10 News, heard of Bomb Bomb’s famous ribs and came in to see for himself. He decided to spotlight us on his special, “On The Menu.” We went on to win two Gold Spoon Awards and the most recent award for our ribs was the Neil Stein/Gary Maddox Barbeque Cook Off held in Citizens Bank Park. We also came in the top three of the Best Barbeque for 2006 on AOLCitySearch.com.
